NEW YEAR'S EVE: Nice
and Eze (included) Across the border to the French Riviera and the premier seaside town of Nice. Explore the shops and take a stroll along the promenade, known as the Promenade des Anglais, which fronts the city sweeping along the Mediterranean. On our return journey we call at the lovely village of Éze, overlooking the sea, to visit the Fragonard Perfume factory. Join our tour to sample and buy perfume at factory prices. Return in plenty of time to prepare for tonight’s festivities at our hotel. B,L,D |

2: Monte Carlo and Monaco (optional) In the morning we visit the Principality of Monaco – its eight square miles form the smallest, and almost certainly the wealthiest, sovereign state in the world. It also has one of the few autocratic monarchies left in the world. The afternoon is at leisure in probably the most famous part of Monaco, Monte Carlo. If you feel lucky, take a chance in the Grand Casino, with its lavish interiors decorated in the striking Belle Epoque style. B,L,D |
