| Excursions and visits |
Lake Garda (included) |
A full day
excursion around Lake Garda. We visit
Malcesine, with its old town, squares and
streets clustered around the foot of the
Scaliger Castle. Following the eastern shore
of the lake, we see the town of Garda with
its smart Parish Church and Villa Albertini,
dating from the 16th century. In the south
of the lake we stop at the gem of the
peninsula, Sirmione. We continue down
the western side of the lake, calling at
Limone sul Garda, an almost magical resort
with its old fishermen’s homes, narrow
winding streets, and olive and lemon
groves. |
Verona with sightseeing
tour (optional). |
The home of ‘Romeo and
Juliet’ and one of Italy’s most ancient cities. The many charms
of the city will be brought to life as you walk through its
streets accompanied buy a local English-speaking guide on
our included walking tour. Admire the 1st century Arena, which
dominates the main square. Verona boasts an abundance of fine
palaces, churches and monuments, which adorn its alleyways
and squares. |
Venice (optional). |
A wonderful excursion
to the world-famous city of canals, Venice,
the largest in the Veneto region. Made up
of 118 islands in a lagoon, Venice once had
a monopoly on all Eastern trade and
controlled parts of the Adriatic, the Greek
islands, modern day Turkey and the Italian
mainland. Steeped in history, you can enjoy
the famous sights. Start at St. Mark’s Square
with its magnificent Campanile or Bell
Tower and the Doges Palace. Then walk
north through the charming old streets to
the Grand Canal and the lofty Rialto Bridge. |
Bolzano and the Renon Pyramids (optional). |
Accompanied by our guide, we
drive through the Adige Valley to the
charming town of Bolzano, the ‘little pearl’
of the Italian Süd Tirol with its Gothic
cathedral and narrow cobbled streets.
See perhaps as well ‘Ötzi’ the famous ice
mummy, in the Archéological Museum.
We climb aboard the area’s longest cable
car for a panoramic journey to
Soprabolzano. Switching to a quaint old
train, we then travel through forests and
fields, admiring the views of the
surrounding peaks of Latemar, Catinnacio,
Marmolada and Sassoplatto. Upon arriving
at Collalbo, our coach takes us to
Longomasso. From here, we walk to the
famous earth pyramids on the Renon
plateau (please note this may not be
suitable for people with walking difficulties),
before returning by coach to our hotel.
If you do not wish to take the cable car
you can travel by coach to Collalbo. |
