Western Highlands - Scotland Coach Tours - 8 Days Tour Highlights • Remote seascapes of Wester Ross • Gairloch • Skye Bridge • Kyleakin • Train ride on the famous 'Kyle Line' • Shin Falls • Lairg |
The breathtaking scenery
of Wester Ross is reminiscent of the Norwegian fjords, with
dramatic mountain peaks and majestic lochs that bite into
the coastline. Ullapool developed as a trading post for the
Outer Hebrides, and enjoys an idyllic setting near the mouth
of Loch Broom. The village has retained its timeless, peaceful
quality - street signs are in both Gaelic and English, fishermen
land their rich harvest in the picturesque harbour, and the
friendliness of the local people is matched only by the serenity
and unspoiled beauty of the surrounding area. |
| North Western Highlands - Holiday Itinerary |
SUNDAY From local departure points we head towards our overnight stop in the north of England. |
MONDAY After an early start we cross the border and head towards the far North to reach Ullapool, our base for the next five nights. |
TUESDAY A day to relax and enjoy the idyllic village of Ullapool on the banks of Loch Broom. |
WEDNESDAY A very scenic half day excursion by the remote Destitution Road, lonely bays and empty beaches to reach the little tourist centre of Gairloch, looking over the sea to Skye. |
THURSDAY A full day tour today through bleak and beautiful Sutherland. We come to dramatic Shin Falls, before making our way via Lairg to Laxford Bridge, a Highland road offering stunning views of the mountains, lochs and wild moorland. Our breathtaking tour concludes with spectacular views of the mountains - Puinag, Canige and Suilven as we return to Ullapool. |
FRIDAY An exciting day when we include a train ride on one of Britain’s most scenic railway lines. Joining at the village of Garve, travel through a wild landscape rich in wildlife - buzzards, red deer and maybe a soaring eagle - to reach the sea at the Kyle of Lochalsh, overlooking the Isle of Skye. Here we rejoin the coach to cross the Skye Bridge to spend some time at the little coastal town of Kyleakin before returning by road to Ullapool. |
