| Connemara,
Ireland of Dreams By Air with Coach Tours - 8 Days Tour Highlights • Connemara National Park • Kylemore Abbey • Cong, the 'Quiet Man' village • Galway • Optional tour to the Aran Islands • Dublin sightseeing |
Connemara is most of all a unique experience, the sort of Ireland people dream about visiting.
This is a land of mountains, lakes and waterfalls, with a rocky coastline, golden sunsets over
the sea, thatched whitewashed cottages, sheep, donkeys and little Connemara ponies. Our
holiday centre of Clifden is the ‘capital’ where the pastel coloured waterfront buildings are a
scenic backdrop to the bay, and The Twelve Pins mountain range looms in the distance. |
| Connemara - Your Itinerary |
SATURDAY Make your own way to one of our featured regional airports and board your flight to Dublin. Here our representative will be on hand to transfer you to your overnight hotel to meet your tour manager and fellow travellers. |
SUNDAY This morning we head across the green heart of Ireland to Connemara and Clifden, where we stay five nights at the Clifden Station House Hotel. |
MONDAY A free day at Clifden, with a chance to relax and explore the little town, with its tweed and craft shops. |
TUESDAY A full day tour through Connemara National Park, to stop at Kylemore Abbey, a castellated mansion with a pottery and craft centre. Alongside Killary Harbour, Ireland’s only fjord, to Cong, where 'The Quiet Man' was filmed in 1951, returning by the Atlantic Coast road. |
WEDNESDAY A full day tour to the small city of Galway, a lively cultural centre and popular tourist haunt, where there is time to explore before we return along the shores of fabled Galway Bay, overlooking the sea towards the humpbacked Aran Islands. |
THURSDAY For those who wish we have arranged a superb optional tour to the nearby Aran Islands. We take the passenger ferry to Innishmore, where you immediately experience the atmosphere created by this outpost of Gaelic culture and language, transport that is mainly pony and trap, white washed cottages and the stark limestone landscape. Approximate cost €45 per person. |
FRIDAY This morning we return to Dublin, where there is plenty of time for sightseeing around the city centre, where the Temple Bar area and Grafton Street entice tourists worldwide before making our way to our hotel and final night in Ireland. |
