Yorkshire Pride - England Coach Tours - 5 Days Tour Highlights • Victorian’ Saltaire • Skipton • Haworth and Bronté Country • Harrogate & Knaresborough • Piece Hall • Wharfedale |
Yorkshire folk are very proud people, and justly so if this midweek break is anything to go by.
You’ll be introduced to some of Yorkshire’s finest - from the history and industrial heritage of
the past, as seen at the ‘model’ village of Saltaire, the amazing Piece Hall at Halifax and the
Bronte village of Haworth, to the outstanding scenery of the Yorkshire Dales and the
magnificent garden town of Harrogate. |
| Yorkshire Pride - Your Excursions |
FULL
DAY A short drive to Saltaire, a 'model' Victorian industrial village created by Sir Titus Salt as a self-contained environment for workers in his woollen mills. Saltaire maintains a Victorian air to this day whilst the main mill has been transformed into a gallery housing paintings by Yorkshire-born David Hockney. On to the market town of Skipton, gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, returning through Ilkley, in beautiful Wharfedale. |
FULL DAY To the woollen mill heartlands of Halifax and in particular the Piece Hall, built in the 18th century for handloom weavers to sell their pieces of cloth. Nowadays it has been fully restored and houses a great collection of shops offering antiques, books and crafts to name but a few.We continue through Calderdale and across the wild moorlands of 'Wuthering Heights' to Haworth, where there are Bronté reminders in abundance. |
HALF DAY An extended half day tour to Harrogate, the epitome of stately Yorkshire, where the famous Betty’s Tea Rooms offer the finest of refreshments. Onward to picturesque Knaresborough, perched above the River Nidd. |
