Delights - Scotland Coach Tours - 7 or 8 Days Tour Highlights • Spectacular Highland scenery •Traditional Ceilidh Night •Tranquil Deeside • Grantown-on-Spey • Cairngorms National Park • Braemar (not 7 day tours) • Whisky Country |
Visit a beautiful part
of Scotland, which has been favoured as a retreat by the Royal
Family since the days of Queen Victoria. The River Dee flows
down a green, sylvan valley from the mountains of the Cairngorms
to the sea at the granite city of Aberdeen and has become
a popular tourist area. Our holiday centre of Ballater is
an attractive village with many Royal associations and Balmoral
Castle, the Queen’s Highland home, is only eight miles away. |
| Deeside Delights - Holiday Itinerary |
SUNDAY From local departure points we head towards our overnight stop in the north of England. |
MONDAY Crossing the Scottish border we head for the Highlands, climbing over the Grampian Mountains to reach Royal Deeside and Ballater, where we stay for four nights at the Loirston Hotel. |
TUESDAY At leisure to relax and explore Ballater. Discover the beautifully restored Old Royal Station, where Queen Victoria used to alight from the train on her visits to nearby Balmoral. |
WEDNESDAY A scenic half day excursion, passing the magnificent baronial castle of Balmoral, built for Queen Victoria in 1855, then to the pretty village of Braemar, ringed by mountains and known for its famous Highland Games (not 7 day tours). |
THURSDAY A superb full day tour through the Cairngorms National Park to Strathspey and gracious Grantown-on-Spey, which has elegant Georgian buildings, then through the heart of Whisky Country, dotted with famous distilleries, to return to Ballater. |
FRIDAY A full day scenic delight as we explore along the rivers of the Dee and Don, with visits to Alford, a pleasant market town with a host of walks and castle trails, Banchory famous for its leaping salmon and Aboyne, set beside the Dee. |
SATURDAY Heading south we skirt Edinburgh and make our way across the border into England for our final overnight stay. |
SUNDAY Our scenic touring holiday draws to a close with the journey homeward. |
