SUNDAY Make your own way to one of our featured regional airports for your flight to Scotland. Meet our airport representative after customs and join your coach to transfer to the Bridge of Tilt Hotel for the next seven nights. |
MONDAY A day to relax and explore your new surroundings in Blair Atholl. |
TUESDAY An absorbing full day circular tour of the Grampian Mountains and West Highlands. Our outward route is by the wild Drumochter Pass over the mountains to descend Glen Spean to Spean Bridge, then by the slopes of Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the British Isles, to reach Fort William. Set on the shores of Loch Linnhe, amidst glorious mountain scenery, this is one of Scotland’s most popular tourist centres. Our return route is by spectacular Glencoe, remote Rannoch Moor, and lovely Loch Tay. |
WENDESDAY Full day excursion by the Cainwell Pass, a popular area for winter skiing, descending to the picturesque village of Braemar at the head of Deeside, a favourite destination of Royalty since the days of Queen Victoria. We glimpse Balmoral Castle, the Queen’s Highland residence, before arriving at Ballater, where the old station has many Royal associations and ‘By Royal Appointment’ crests can be seen on shop fronts. |
THURSDAY A short half day excursion to neighbouring Pitlochry, a small Highland town which has become a mecca for tourists, with lots of Scottish souvenirs to tempt you. On to the beauty spot of Queen’s View, overlooking Loch Tummel and the mountain peak of Schiehallion. |
FRIDAY Our final full day tour takes us in the morning to Glamis Castle (admission included), the childhood home of the Queen Mother, birthplace of Princess Margaret, and the legendary setting for Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’. It is a picturesque baronial building, with a roofline of turrets and battlements, in a sylvan setting. In the afternoon through Dundee, the ‘city of jam, jute and journalism’, and across the impressive Tay Bridge to the Fife coast and St. Andrews, home of golf, with an ancient university where Prince Andrew studied, cathedral and castle ruins, and extensive sandy beaches. |
SATURDAY Day of leisure in Blair Atholl. A visit to nearby Blair Castle is a must. |
