DAY Today we explore the delights of Northumbria’s Heritage Coastline.We make our way to Holy Island (subject to tidal conditions), known locally as Lindisfarne, famed for being the birthplace of English Christianity. Then to Bamburgh with its fairytale castle and magnificent views of the Farne Islands. |
FULL DAY Today we head into the magnificent Kielder Forest which is Europe’s largest working forest and has Europe’s largest man-made reservoir. There is time to enjoy the wild landscape as well as browse through the superb visitor centre. This afternoon we head across the route of Hadrian’s Wall, with glimpses of the ruins in the distance to Hexham with its stately Abbey and Roman influences. |
