Discovery Coach Tours - 8 Days Tour Highlights • Dublin • Donegal Town • The Rosses coastline • Giant’s Causeway • Seaside town of Portrush • Historic walled city of Derry |
Tucked away in Ireland’s northwest, Donegal is a land of breathtaking natural beauty with a
rugged coastline shaped over the years by the mighty Atlantic Ocean. There are spectacular
mountains, majestic rivers and crystal-clear lakes, and a rich heritage where Gaelic language
and culture still prevails. From Donegal’s largest market town of Letterkenny we see some of
the area’s finest scenery, and also include a tour of the Antrim Coast, with a visit to Ireland’s
finest natural wonder - the Giant’s Causeway. |
| Donegal Discovery - Your Itinerary |
SUNDAY From local departure points we travel towards Wales for our overnight stop. |
MONDAY An early start enables us to use the fast ferry from Holyhead to Dublin (breakfast voucher included), before travelling northwest to Letterkenny for a late dinner and five nights at the Letterkenny Court Hotel. |
TUESDAY A free day at Letterkenny with the chance to explore from our town centre hotel, and perhaps visit the Gothic style Cathedral. |
WEDNESDAY A memorable full day circular tour takes us first by the Barnesmore Gap through the mountains to Donegal Town, a renowned centre for tweed and knitwear, then to the little touring centre of Dungloe, the principal town of The Rosses, recognised as one of Europe’s most beautiful coastlines. We continue via the village of Kincasslagh, which is home to one of Donegal’s most famous sons, Daniel O’Donnell, as we return through the heart of the Derryveagh Mountains, past the spectacular white peak of Errigal. |
THURSDAY A fascinating full day excursion to County Antrim, past the dramatic cliff top Dunluce Castle and Bushmills, of whiskey fame, to visit the unique Giant’s Causeway, said to have been the work of the legendary Celtic giant, Finn McCool. Learn about the Causeway at the Visitor Centre before calling at the popular small seaside resort of Portrush, which has golden beaches and a colourful harbour. |
FRIDAY A half day excursion to Derry, where you can walk on the walls which enclose the city centre, stroll on the River Foyle quayside and explore the revitalised shopping area.rm and wit is legendary, and the wealth of places to see and things to do,make this one of Europe’s great capital cities. |
SATURDAY Regrettably we leave the delights of Donegal behind to make our way to Dublin where there is some time to explore the Irish capital’s attractions before the evening fast ferry crossing to Holyhead. A meal voucher is provided as our arrival at the final overnight hotel is late. |
