Irish
Spectacular - Coasts & Mountains Tour Highlights |
Ireland’s southwest corner, the western part of County Cork, is an area of craggy coastlines,
mighty mountains and lovely lakes, where the mild air of the Gulf Stream ensures that exotic
foliage flourishes and rare plants thrive. Touring out from our base in historic Bantry, on beautiful
Bantry Bay, look forward to exploring some of Ireland’s finest inland and coastal scenery. |

SUNDAY From local departure points we travel towards Wales for an vernight stop. |
MONDAY An early start as we travel to Holyhead for the fast ferry crossing to Ireland, with a breakfast voucher provided. From Dublin we travel south towards Cork and on to Bantry for dinner and five nights at the Westlodge Hotel. |
TUESDAY A free day to relax in the idyllic surroundings of Bantry. Local Bantry House is a Georgian manor set in manicured gardens, and there are sea cruises around the bay and to offshore Whiddy Island. |
WEDNESDAY A half day tour to Gougane Barra National Park, a romantic spot with a lake deep in the mountains and a tiny church which is a favourite place for local weddings. |
THURSDAY A leisurely full day tour, first to the village of Glengarriff, set on a sheltered bay, where exotic foliage flourishes in the mild air. From Glengarriff we explore the remote, tranquil Beara Peninsula, an area of unspoilt scenery backed by the spectacular Caha Mountains. We call at the small fishing town of Castletownbere, set on the natural harbour of Berehaven, where seafood is a speciality. |
FRIDAY A very scenic full day tour to Skibbereen, largest town of West Cork and a tourist haunt gateway to the rocky coastline of Roaringwater Bay, location of many shipwrecks in the past. On to the tiny seaside village of Baltimore, an artist’s paradise with clear air and dramatic seascapes. There is a ruined 16th century castle, and ferries operate to Sherkin Island and Cape Clear, with memorable views. |
SATURDAY Return to Dublin for the evening fast ferry sailing back to Holyhead, with an evening meal voucher provided as arrival at our overnight stop will be late. |
