Day
3 Vienna with guided sightseeing (optional) |
The former imperial city
of Vienna has long been a favourite destination on account
of its diversity. The world capital of classical music has
been home to many composers, has a fascinating heritage as
the centre of the Habsburg Empire, a rich culture with over
80 museums, and an impressive modern face with elegant shops
and boutiques. On our optional guided tour you will see the
Hofburg Palace, the Parliament Building, the Opera House,
National Theatre and City Hall and also see the majestic Danube
River and famous Prater Wheel. |
Day 4 Budapest (included)
with guided sightseeing (optional) |
Discover the Hungarian
capital, Budapest. You will have time to explore the city
on your own, maybe taking a stroll by the River Danube or
visiting the tempting stores of the Vaci Utca street. Join
our optional sightseeing tour in the company of our expert
guide, who will offer an insight into its splendours, allowing
you to appreciate Budapest to the full. |
Day 5 Bratislava (included) |
Spend time in Bratislava,
Slovakia’s largest city and capital. Its 2000 year history
boasts a rich host of surviving monuments that tell of its
past under Hungarian rule. Most of what is to see is centred
in the Old Town area. See the splendid Town Hall, dating from
the 14th century, Michael’s Gate, and the reputedly narrowest
house in Europe. Also not to be missed are the sumptuous Baroque
palaces, including the Grassalkovich Palace and the Primate’s
Palace, and, of course the famous Castle, set high on a plateau
above the River Danube and dating from the 10th century. |
Day 6 Prague (included)
with guided sightseeing (optional, included on SILVER SERVICE) |
Prague is affectionately
known as the ‘Golden Town’, on account of its historic architecture
including cathedrals, gold-tipped towers, church domes and
numerous bridges which span the majestic Vltava River. The
city also presents a modern façade, with exciting shopping
arcades, bustling city squares, and an excellent array of
restaurants and cafés in which to sample the local specialities
washed down with a glass of local beer. Starting from the
stunning Prague Castle, our walking tour will introduce the
splendid architecture of Prague Old Town, the world’s largest
UNESCO monument. Following the tour, why not relax as we take
to the water for an optional cruise on the Vltava River. A
buffet lunch will be served on board with a selection of warm
and cold Czech specialities for you to enjoy. So sit back
on the sundeck, listen to the musician, and admire the outstanding
views of the ‘city of a hundred spires’. |
